We met with Ann Newlove of the Humber LEP to discuss local school contacts and discovered that our ‘Added Value’ community activities we deliver as a business aligned perfectly with the pillars of the Skills Pledge.

It is important to capture all the great work that local businesses are doing in the day to day running of their businesses. The skills pledge can navigate these possibilities to ensure more opportunities are taken up in the local area.
How I/we see it benefitting the company/organisation….
We can benefit by having access to the networking events and meeting other likeminded businesses to discuss and overcome important social issues.
How I/We see it benefitting the wider community / local economy……
It will enhance communication between organisations and share best practice between community related activities.
If you have recently started fulfilling one or more of the pledges since signing up, what are you doing?
We have coordinated an employability skills programme with local schools and offered the business workshop slots to those who are members of the Skills Pledge. The schools can access local, enthusiastic businesses who have a common interest in making a different for the young people.
If you were already fulfilling one or more of the pledges before signing up to the campaign, please tell us what you do.
Due to the nature of our sector, we regularly recruit apprentices.
We offer traineeships and graduate opportunities across the business.
We manage a successful employability skills programme allowing businesses to deliver skills sessions in numerous schools in an organised fashion.
What would you say to someone thinking of supporting the campaign?
Being a member is a useful tool to gain up to date local knowledge about current social issues and to meet other businesses who are likeminded in their values/beliefs about community engagement.
