Spencer Group are a multi-disciplinary Engineering business who provide pioneering engineering solutions across the transport and infrastructure and in energy and industrial sectors.
Signing up to the pledge has further reinforced their commitment to offering work placements, apprenticeships and graduate opportunities to local people, as well as highlighting their desire to invest in the development of our their people, support the development of employability skills amongst local people and providing mentoring opportunities to budding entrepreneurs.
Examples of Spencer Group's commitment includes the 13 apprenticeships they are currently offering to local people in Construction, Design and IT Development. Delivering these apprenticeships in partnership with Hull College is a fantastic way of investing in the local community, whilst also ensuring that future skills gaps are filled through the development of their apprentices.
Spencer Group has also delivered an entrepreneurial programme called 'Blue Sky' in conjunction with CAT Zero which provided local budding entrepreneurs with the opportunity to hone their business skills and develop their business plan.
They offer the Career Advancement Programme (CAP) to staff as a way of offering fast-tracked development to people who want to progress their careers quickly. With coaching and mentoring opportunities available, the CAP is a whirlwind of excitement which allows people to get exactly where they want to be.
Going forward, Spencer Group are going to fulfil their pledge by offering apprenticeships in a number of different disciplines, working with faculties of education to offer work experience placements and develop employability skills, employing local graduates and supporting budding entrepreneurs.
