Hemingway Bailey are chartered management accountants, providing accountancy services such as annual accounts, bookkeeping and tax returns, as well as added services such as costing systems and sales analysis. They have been fulfilling the pledges for quite some time.
Two apprentices are currently employed within Hemingway Bailey, as well as a graduate. One of the team’s apprentices runs her own business, MixEd, and has been mentored throughout the process of setting the business up by Hemingway Bailey director Alan Hemingway.
When asked why they had chosen to sign up to the Humber LEP's Skills Pledge, Alan said: "We believe it is great to encourage the development of team members, especially young people, through offering added support and encouragement. We do what we can to offer this support, whether through our apprentices or by giving work experience opportunities.
"Signing up to the Skills Pledge will benefit us because it will further emphasise the culture we have within the organisation in employing and encouraging young people, as well as adding another company to the list of those who show the importance of growing the skills of your workforce."
We asked Alan what he would say to others thinking of signing up to the Skills Pledge, he responded: "We would encourage them to do so, as it shows the importance of giving young people opportunities which will lead them to greater things later in their career. It also benefits the company – Hemingway Bailey has benefitted greatly by employing apprentices, bringing new ideas and suggestions as well as a very committed workforce."
