Managing Director Nick Carter had a pre-existing relationship with the Humber LEP. Always of help to CJE, Nick felt the pledge added value to the training and development strategy he employs at the company.

When asked how he felt the Skills Pledge benefits the wider community and local economy, Nick said: "I feel our approach to staff development and skills helps to enhance the perception of logistics as a whole. As the local economy and landscape changes, we need the skills and people to be able to cope with increased demand.  Encouraging skilled people to stay in Hull, or increasing the skills of our existing people, is key to be able to continue to delight our customers.

"We would wholeheartedly recommend signing up to the Skills Pledge, it is a free service and the rewards are genuine and beneficial."

CJE currently employs two graduates and the company has created CJE-BEST, an internal staff-development and coaching programme which allows drivers, office staff and managers to monitor and plan their development within the organisation.
