Please tell us briefly what your company/organisation does

NELC CLS are an education and training provider of a broad range of skills based courses, apprenticeships, study programme and learning for those with high needs. NELC CLS provides these opportunities for those aged 16 and older.

I/We heard about the campaign through

LEP meeting

I/We signed up to the Humber Skills Pledge because

NELC CLS signed up to the Humber Skills Pledge to demonstrate our commitment to the provision of opportunities for learning and development of skills. Our partners include local businesses for apprenticeships and employers for work experience for our learners at all levels. Through the pledge, and in partnership with NELC CLS, employers can develop staff, ‘grow their own’ and provide opportunities to those furthest from the job market through work experience, as well as develop a workforce that is fit for the future demands of the business.

How I/we see it benefitting the company/organisation

NELC CLS provides Apprenticeships in Business Administration, Childcare, Health and Social Care, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and Leadership and Management. These frameworks benefit organisations through the support CLS provides through the learning framework and support to both the employer and Apprentice/Trainee. Those furthest from the jobs market can develop basic skills in the workplace through supported opportunities.

How I/We see it benefitting the wider community / local economy

The Skills Pledge will benefit people, businesses, CLS and the local economy through the seamless support for skills, development of people, and therefore expanding and developing a fully skilled workforce.

If you have recently started fulfilling one or more of the pledges since signing up, what are you doing?

• CLS has committed to the continuing professional development of all staff at all levels with an annual plan and individual plans through supervision.
• We have offered 3 work placements to unemployed people along with skills updates.
• We offered 2 graduates placements who then became employed by North East Lincolnshire Council.
• We have also offered Apprenticeship opportunities, Trainee opportunities and Supported Internships to 8 people.

If you were already fulfilling one or more of the pledges before signing up to the campaign, please tell us what you do

What would you say to someone thinking of supporting the campaign?

Pledge your support to the Campaign to further expand and develop skilled individuals and therefore workforces. It benefits communities and employers as people gain relevant employment and employers fill their vacancies with appropriately skilled people.
